Thanks for sharing the details (and the mistakes). I hadn't realized that the braces were morticed through the sides, I would have assumed that they stopped at the lining.

Here, when I need to be reminded how much I don't know, I go to Bayard Blain at Bayard Guitars, one of those world-class luthiers who happens to live just a few blocks away. Take a look, he's good.

Also, I follow Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Berkeley… they just posted a 1938 Martin 000-42 for $60k. Wish I had the money...
