re: old books. You might find the three books written by J L and Barbara Hammond in the 1920's interesting. They were engaged by the British Labour Board to write a history of labor... criticized as Socialists, but their work was thoroughly researched, and very well written. The Skilled Labourer addresses the social relations in the textile industry.
