Marx wanted to centralize ownership of the "means of production". Stalin tried that with collectives, and nearly starved Russia to death (and killed Vavilov in the process). We are better off as a culture if everyone owns a bit of the "means of production". Widely distributed, culture is not so easily lost or stolen.

Read Ruskin, read Hammond, read Olmsted. Read Wendell Berry. Get closer to the land. Learn to do something useful with your hands. Theories are maps, experience is the terrain.
